Old Dominion 'Honored' to Wear Route 91 Pins at ACM Awards

The ACM Vocal Group of the Year is honored to pay tribute to the victims of the Route 91 shooting.Old Dominion and attendees of the 53rd ACM Awards Sunday (April 15) in Las Vegas donned "851" and "58" pins to represent those injured and killed, respectively, in the October shooting at the city's Route 91 Harvest festival. The group explained why they jumped at the opportunity to honor the victims."We met some family members and friends of a victim and we met the victim herself. They taught us about the power of music and how our music is a part of their life and is helping them," lead singer Matthew Ramsey told press backstage at the ACMs. "It is a sad thing, but we are happy to be just the smallest part of healing through our music. If we ever do anything, just the smallest bit, the smallest step towards healing something like that through our music is much heavier than this [award] will ever be. We're honored to wear these."Jason AldeanMiranda Lambert, Luke BryanMaren Morris and Thomas Rhett opened the ACMs in a special tribute to the victims."Music helps us remember what really matters in life," Luke said. Added Maren, "It makes us stronger."For continuing ACM Awards coverage, stay tuned at CMTcody.com.
