Miranda Lambert Announces New Collaborative Album 'The Marfa Tapes'

Miranda Lambert just released her brand new single "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)" with Elle King, but the country star has even more new music up her sleeve, and it's a completely different vibe. The Texas native announced a new collaborative project, The Marfa Tapes, with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, and it's set to be released on May 7.

In a message posted to social media, Lambert explained that the album was recorded in Marfa, Texas, and described the new music as "raw" and revealed that the first song from the project is called "In His Arms." She said, "Announcing The Marfa Tapes. A project by @jackingram,@jonrandallmusic and me. Recorded in Marfa, TX. They’re raw. You can hear the wind blowing, the cows mooing... We wanted you to feel like you were right there with us, sitting around the campfire, escaping the world, disappearing into the music. First song, “In His Arms,” out at Midnight ET tonight. Album out May 7."

Echoing Miranda's post on social media, the trio also previously said in additional matching posts, "Marfa, TX holds a special place in our hearts. Inspired by its serene beauty,@jackingram @mirandalambertand I wrote Tin Man and Tequila Does here. We continued to dive deeper into the songwriting process and we came up with 13 more songs. It’s about time to share them with y’all."

Miranda had teased the new music on TikTok in a video compilation of fans' reactions on Twitter demanding to know what she was up to. In the post, she also tagged Ingram and Randall with hashtags and a winking emoji, and the music was a very simple guitar riff, presumably featured on the forthcoming album.
