Trisha Yearwood marked an anniversary of a historic day in her career. Twenty-four years ago, the country music icon was invited to join the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Yearwood’s invitation was delivered by a 15-time GRAMMY Award winning country, bluegrass and gospel artist.
Yearwood shared the throwback clip on her social media channels on Monday (January 16), remembering that, “24 years ago today, I received the invitation of a lifetime from [Ricky Skaggs]. [Grand Ole Opry] it is an honor to be in your circle! xo ❤️”
The Grand Ole Opry, Carly Pearce, Hailey Whitters and other country artists and fans celebrated Yearwood’s Opry invitation anniversary as she relived that special moment. “It’s a yes,” Yearwood said in the video, beaming with a big smile as Skaggs invited her to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry and the audience applauded.
The Grand Ole Opry is the stage “that showcases country music’s past, present, and future,” founded nearly 100 years ago and hailed “the show that made country music famous.” Yearwood is part of a star-studded list of Opry members, which also includes Skaggs, her superstar husband Garth Brooks, an artist she invited (Lauren Alaina), in addition to Dolly Parton, Bill Anderson, Luke Combs, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Pearce, Carrie Underwood and many others.
