Researchers "compared more than 180 U.S. cities based on 45 key metrics that consider essential family dynamics, such as the cost of housing, the quality of local school and health-care systems, and the opportunities for fun and recreation," according to the website.

The highest-ranking Colorado city on the list is Denver, ranking at No. 41. This popular destination got the highest marks in "Family Fun," which includes playgrounds, number of attractions, weather, commute time, walkability, and other factors.
