Ashley Cooke announced long-awaited details about her sophomore studio record on Monday morning (May 4).
The Florida-born country artist, 28, will deliver her self-titled album this summer. The project will feature previously-released tracks “baby blues,” “excuses,” “the hell you are,” and “xs,” plus “high school sweetheart,” which is set to arrive on Friday (May 8).
“This record feels like a coming-of-age record disguised as a relationship album. I wrote a lot of it dead in the middle of real-life situations where I learned quite a bit about myself, so you're getting the real, unpolished, recently-realized-truths in 15 tracks,” Cooke said in a statement. “It's messy, self-reflective, indecisive, filled with honesty, double entendres and emotional duality (I'm a Gemini, duh). Overall, it's my perception of love and allllll the chaos it entails.”

Cooke launched her career with her 24-track debut album, shot in the dark, in July 2023. That record includes “it’s been a year,” “moving on with grace,” “your place,” — which earned Cooke the CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Female Video of the Year in 2024 — and more. Cooke released her 9-track project, ace, in November 2025, and her 6-track EP, the ace sessions, earlier this year as she stirred anticipation for her upcoming album announcement.
Cooke co-wrote ashley cooke with Liz Rose, Lori McKenna, and Ashley Gorley, to name a few, plus producer Dann Huff, guitarist Ilya Toshinskiy and others. The country star “pairs her unfiltered storytelling with a sun-soaked coastal country sound — a perfect echo of her beachside roots and deep affinity for '90s-era effortless cool.” The album is set to arrive on August 14.
