TMSG: Chick-fil-A Opens Sunday to Birthday Party for Autistic Boy

Chick-fil-A is known for being closed on Sundays, but one of their restaurants in Mobile, Alabama made an exception to help make birthday wishes come true for a 14-year-old boy with autism. They opened their doors so Elijah Sprague could live out his dream of working the drive-thru window at the fast food restaurant.

Walt Gilstrap is the manager of the restaurant as well as Elijah’s uncle and he and the owner, Mr. Glen, supervised as the birthday boy passed out cookies to about 40 cars. Those participants then came inside the Chick-fil-A to celebrate Elijah’s birthday with a big cookie cake that read, “Drive-thru king.” And he loved every minute of it.

“The way people love this kid amazes me. It has truly changed the way I live my life,” Rene Sprague, Elijah’s mom, writes on Facebook. “Loving people with your whole heart, judgments aside and with no anticipation of rewards. Thank you to every single person that loves our Elijah.”
