The latest trend in work is to donate vacation time to new moms as a baby shower gift!!! Nebraska does not offer state employees dedicated paid maternity leave so the state started a new policy that allows state employees to donate vacation days specifically for coworkers' maternity leave.
Under the new program, a woman was able to take 12-weeks of paid maternity leave with her second son thanks to her coworkers. Throughout the country people are donating time to new moms since the US is the only country among 41 industrialized nations that does not mandate paid maternity leave.
