Walmart made this announcement last week, now other stores are following:
Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods said they would close their stores on Thanksgiving. For Target, this will be the first time since 2011 they've been closed on the holiday.
As part of the new strategy, Target said it would begin rolling out holiday sales earlier than normal, in October, both online and in physical stores.
A statement from Target read:
”Historically, deal hunting and holiday shopping can mean crowded events, and this isn't a year for crowds.”
Expect more retailers to follow suit this year.
Maybe this will start a new trend to close stores on Thanksgiving??
